Maggie Valley, North Carolina

Maggie Valley is one of the highest valleys east of the Mississippi River.
Maggie Valley North Carolina is nestled at the eastern side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The tourist based economy is based around the major attractions of the park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Ghost Town in the Sky and Cataloochee Ski Area. Within a days drive of most of the southeast but yet having a climate similar to northern New England due to its altitude, Maggie Valley enjoys four equally balanced seasons. The valley floor sits at 3200 feet while the mountain peaks surrounding the valley rise above 5000 feet.

A brief history of the valley starts a little over 100 years ago when the growing community was in need of a post office. For the US Postmaster to award the location a post office a name of the community was needed. A few names were submitted including the name of daughter of the man who was currently bring the mail into the valley. The US Postmaster choose "Maggie" and the rest is history.
